Our primary data source is the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) — currently 10,790 recall campaigns covering vehicles, tires, equipment, and child seats, alongside open NHTSA investigations and owner complaint filings. We also incorporate data from other authoritative automotive safety sources as it becomes available. Advanced search by manufacturer, make, model, and model year lets teams track issues before they become recalls, not just after.

CarsApp is built as a serious research tool for the professionals who work with this data every day: OEM safety teams, journalists, researchers, and law firms. Beyond search, we publish a monthly safety insights roundup, quarterly trend analysis, and regulatory updates to keep enterprise teams ahead of what NHTSA is tracking.

Data sources

Recall, investigation, and complaint data originates primarily from NHTSA's public datasets and official Part 573 safety recall reports, supplemented by other authoritative automotive safety data sources. CarsApp is an independent project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by NHTSA. Always confirm a recall and its remedy with the manufacturer using the vehicle's VIN.
