Defect
Highland Ridge RV (Highland Ridge) is recalling certain 2022 Olympia, and Olympia Sport recreational vehicles. The metallic electrical box may not be grounded.
Risk / consequence
An ungrounded metallic electrical box can cause electric shock, increasing the risk of injury.
Remedy
Dealers will add a bare copper grounding conductor to the metallic electrical box, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 29, 2022. Owners may contact Highland Ridge customer service at 1-260-768-7771. Highland Ridge's number for this recall is 9904574.
Chronology of events
- December 2021
In December 2021 during a routine code audit, it was discovered that a safety related defect and a standards non-conformance may exist. Certain metallic electrical boxes may not be grounded as required by NFPA 70 Article 551.55(C)(2). The metallic box is being used as a substitute for a non-metallic box due to a component supplier shortage. Grounding requirements are not applicable on a non-metallic box. All units affected on premises were placed on hold and repaired with the recall remedy.

On January 5, 2022 this incident was discussed at CPAC and elevated to SSC. One January 27, 2022 SSC discussed this incident and voted to proceed with a recall.
