Defect
Holley Performance Products (Holley) is recalling certain Sniper 2 EFI Throttle Bodies, part numbers R90062AAP-B, and R90062AAH-B. The throttle bodies may be missing a fuel plug, which can cause a fuel leak.
Risk / consequence
A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the throttle bodies, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 9, 2024. Owners may contact Holley customer service at 1-800-638-0032.
Chronology of events
- Aug 14, 2024
August 14, 2024 – A second unit was reported with the same issue. Holley’s engineering team started reviewing the test logs (data) for both units. It was determined that both units had failed end-of-line testing. August 15 – August 26, 2024 - Further investigation revealed that, due to a software error, the end-of-line test could generate a “Passed Testing” label even if a unit failed the test. The software was updated to prevent printing any “Passed Testing” labels on units that fail the test. The team requested the data logs for all units made from start of production to August 15 to perform a deeper analysis and identify other possible fail units. This analysis indicated that approximately 708 potentially affected units were shipped beyond Holley’s control. Parts remaining in Holley inventory were quarantined.
- Aug 28, 2024
August 28, 2024 – Based upon the results of the investigation, although inspections of inventory units did not identify any with a missing plug, Holley decided to conduct a safety recall due to the potential that additional parts in the field may have a missing fuel plug. Holley is not aware of any accidents, injuries, or thermal events related to this condition.
