Defect
E-One Incorporated (E-One) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Cyclone 2, 2022-2024 Cyclone N, and Typhoon N vehicles. The engine crossmember may break, allowing the cooling fan to contact the fan shroud and become damaged.
Risk / consequence
A damaged cooling fan can result in an engine stall while driving and increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and repair the crossmember as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 24, 2024. Owners may contact E-One customer service at 1-352-237-1122.
Chronology of events
- July 2024
9 July 2024 – E-ONE was informed that a customer’s trucks fan had broken. Upon inspection it was determined that the cause was the engine crossmember had broken, allowing the fan to contact the fan shroud. 11 July 2024 – E-ONE found cracks in another crossmember that was in testing at E-ONE. 15 July 2024 – E-ONE determined the truck population. 19 July 2024 – Engineering created a repair kit. 1 August 2024 – Repair kit was installed and tested. 12 August 2024 – E-One Safety Committee reviewed the issue and decided to recommend a recall. 15 August 2024 – E-One completed draft DIR and sent to REV Group Product Compliance Group for decision. 22 August 2024 – Final version of DIR prepared for discussion with REV Group Safety Committee. 26 August 2024 – Approval received from REV Group Safety Committee to proceed with a Recall.
