Defect
Storyteller Overland, LLC (Storyteller Overland) is recalling certain 2024 GXV Hilt vehicles. The spare tire mount may not be secured properly, allowing the spare tire to detach from the vehicle.
Risk / consequence
A detached spare tire can become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the tire mount, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 10, 2024. Owners may contact Storyteller Overland customer service at 1-888-999-7442.
Chronology of events
- Aug 29, 2024
On August 29th, 2024, Storyteller’s Customer Service Team received a report of a customer’s spare tire mount failing. Storyteller’s Safety Committee met on August 30th to open an investigation. After discussions with Storyteller’s supplier, it was determined that the spare tire mount fasteners were not installed by the supplier to specification. Storyteller’s Safety Committee met on September 6th and voted to issue a recall.
