Defect
Navistar, Inc. (Navistar) is recalling certain 2025 International CV vehicles. The air bag module may not have been activated during installation.
Risk / consequence
Inactive air bags will not deploy during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Remedy
Navistar will activate the air bag modules, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 22, 2024. Owners may call Navistar Customer Service at 331-332-1590.
Chronology of events
- Sep 5, 2024
9/5/2024: During a pre-delivery inspection, Navistar Manufacturing notices that a vehicle had a flashing airbag readiness light after end-of-line final programming.
- Sep 6, 2024
9/6/2024: A review of manufacturing records determined certain vehicles airbag modules were potentially not activated.
- Sep 6, 2024
9/6/2024 thru 9/23/2024: Navistar initiates a delivery stop for units at the assembly plant finding 22 suspect units that did not have activated airbags establishing a clean point at Springfield Assembly Plant.
- Sep 23, 2024
9/23/2024: Navistar finalizes the suspect population.

9/25/2024: Navistar declares a Safety Recall.
