Chronology of events

  1. Oct 4, 2024

10/04/2024 – Cummins was informed of fuel leaks on the subject hoses by a transit bus customer.

  2. Oct 14, 2024

10/14/2024 – 10/31/2024 Cummins requested the failed parts for failure analysis with failed parts then forwarded on to the supplier to complete additional analysis. 10/31/2024 – 1/10/2025 – Cummins conducted a product safety investigation. Cummins worked with the supplier and identified the crimp station of the overflow line (used to accommodate extra build demand) at the supplier had not been updated to the latest Cummins specification. The supplier identified a single batch consisting of 350 hoses had been produced on the overflow line using the incorrect crimp specification and was shipped to Cummins Rocky Mount Engine Plant on 8/17/2023. A warranty search identified 20 warranty claims with failure dates between 11/27/2023 and 12/3/2024. 1/10/2025 - Based on the results of the investigation, Cummins determined the subject hoses contained the same defect as prior recalls and decided to conduct a safety campaign to address this condition. To date, there have been no reports of fires, accidents, or injuries related to this issue.
