Defect

Highland Ridge RV (Highland Ridge) is recalling certain 2025 Highland Ridge Open Range 3X fifth-wheel travel trailers. The tire size listed on the vehicle certification label is incorrect. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."

Risk / consequence

Incorrect tire information may result in the wrong tires being installed, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Dealers will install new labels, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 14, 2025. Owners may contact Highland Ridge customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Highland Ridge's number for this recall is 9904618.

Chronology of events

  1. Jan 28, 2025

    On January 28, 2025, Jayco Inc. compliance department was notified that the Certification labels on the Open Range 3X have different size tires listed on the label than what is actually installed on the unit. Labels show the incorrect tire aspect ratio of 85 instead of the correct tire aspect ratio of 80. Jayco Inc. compliance team opened an investigation.

  2. Jan 28, 2025

    On January 28, 2025, Jayco engineering confirmed that the tire labels were printed in error showing the incorrect tires ST235/85R16H listed on the certification labels and should have been ST235/80R16H, which are the correct tires that were installed on the units. Our internal investigation determined the scope of units affected by the engineering data entry printing error with the incorrect tire aspect ratio.

  3. Jan 30, 2025

    On January 30, 2025 the Warranty Incident Review Committee (WIRC) discussed the incident and determined it should be elevated to CPAC.

  4. Jan 31, 2025

    On January 31, 2025 the Corrective and Preventive Action Committee (CPAC) met to discuss this incident and elevated it to the Safety Steering Committee.

  5. Jan 31, 2025

    On January 31, 2025 the Safety Steering Committee voted in favor of proceeding with a noncompliance recall for failing to comply with requirement of the 49 CFR Part 567 Certification 567.4. There are 3 warranty claims associated with this recall.
