Carbon Monoxide from Exhaust Fumes May Enter Cabin

REV Recreation Group (REV) is recalling certain 2022-2025 Fleetwood Bounder, Flair, Fortis, Holiday Rambler Admiral, Invicta, Vacationer, 2023-2025 Fleetwood Flex, Holiday Rambler Eclipse, and 2022-2023 Fleetwood Southwind motorhomes. The engine exhaust tip may detach, allowing exhaust fumes to enter the cabin.

Risk / consequence

Exhaust fumes inside the cabin increases the risk of injury or death from carbon monoxide poisoning. In addition, a detached exhaust tip can become a road hazard for other road users, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Dealers will install a clamp to the exhaust tip, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed April 26, 2025. Owners may contact REV customer service at 1-800-509-3417. REV's number for this recall is 250221REV.

Chronology of events

1. Jan 7, 2025

   1/07/2025 REV RV received a claim stating the main engine exhaust tip had detached on a 2024 Flair class A, motor home on a Ford Motor Company chassis. 1/08 REV RV analyzed the photos to learn more about the situation. 1/13 REV RV requested engineering to review the claim details. 1/15 REV RV engineering starts an investigation. 1/16 Investigation to include motor homes in the field begins. 1/20 REV RV warranty starts a claim analysis. 1/28 Field investigation is ongoing. 2/10 Investigation analysis concluded that the Ford exhaust tip based upon the Body Builder Manual should have been clamped and not welded starting in 2022 MY. Production corrections were implemented 2/14 Investigation data, field reports and claim data supported a meeting with the safety committee. Scope to discuss would include all Ford Class A chassis units from 2022 MY to 2025 MY. 02/21 Safety Committee met and sent recommendation to declare a voluntary safety campaign to REV Senior Leadership Team for consideration and review. DIR Approval to proceed with Part 573 Safety Recall Report.
