Defect
Airstream, Inc. (Airstream) is recalling certain 2021-2025 Airstream Classic 33', 2024-2025 Classic 30', and 2025 Classic 28' travel trailers. The sofa footrest switch may have underrated wiring, which can allow the wiring to overheat.
Risk / consequence
Overheated wires increase the risk of a fire.
Remedy
Dealers will install a reverse relay on the sofa switch assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 27, 2025. Owners may contact Airstream customer service at 1-877-596-6505 or 1-937-596-6111, ext. 7401 or 7411.

1/22/2025 - We were notified of a Classic travel trailer with a thermal event relating to the sofa switch. We requested that the trailer be brought back to Airstream for review.

2/12/2025 - Upon the unit’s arrival, Airstream started the investigation with an inspection.

2/14/2025 - We began identifying a remedy for the affected and future production units.

2/18/2025 - Ran query of historical data to determine if other occurrences related to this scenario.
- Feb 19, 2025
2/19/2025 - We met with Midwest, informed them of the event, and discussed a potential solution.
- Feb 25, 2025
2/25/2025 - Established the recall population.
- Feb 26, 2025
2/26/2025 - The safety committee reviewed all known data and determined a recall is warranted. No warranty claims, customer complaints, or injuries have been related to this issue.
- Feb 27, 2025
2/27/2025 - Airstream implemented the repair process in production.
