Defect

PACCAR Incorporated (PACCAR) is recalling certain 2022-2025 Peterbilt 520, 579, and 2021-2025 Kenworth T680 trucks. The high voltage (HV) contactors may open, causing a sudden loss of high voltage and a loss of drive power.

Risk / consequence

A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Dealers will update the software and replace the electrical harness, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 13, 2025. Owners may contact Peterbilt's customer service at 1-940-591-4220 and Kenworth's customer service at 1-425-828-5888. PACCAR's numbers for this recall are 25PBC and 25KWC.

  2. Jan 31, 2025

    1/31/2025: Accelera and PACCAR had a call to discuss the High Voltage Interlock Loop (HVIL) issue.

    2/7/2025: A call was held with Accelera to get an update on the HVIL issue

  4. Feb 13, 2025

    2/13/2025: A call was held with Accelera on details of the HVIL circuit design and improvements to correct issues.

  5. Feb 19, 2025

    2/19/2025: Requested details on any claims Accelera has been notified about for this issue.

  6. Feb 20, 2025

    2/20/2025: Received letter from Accelera on their potential concerns with product in the field

  7. Mar 6, 2025

    3/6/2025: Safety & Compliance held an update call with engineering on the facts that had been gathered

  8. Mar 18, 2025

    3/18/2025: Safety committee meeting held and determined that a recall would be initiated As of 2/24/2025, There were 19 warranty claims received and no reports about trucks in the field that may be related and last claim received between 6/1/2023 to 11/6/2024. No reports of deaths or injuries have been received.
