Defect

Shyft Group (Shyft) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Utilimaster Aeromaster vehicles. The monitor in the 360-degree camera system may not display the correct image at start up.

Risk / consequence

A monitor failing to display the correct image reduces the driver's view, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Shyft will install an in-line circuit protector and monitor, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 8, 2025. Owners may contact Shyft customer service at 1-800-237-7806. Shyft's number for this recall is 25-15.

Chronology of events

  1. May 16, 2025

On 5/16/2025, a customer complained of monitors not displaying the 360 view when the vehicle was started. On 5/19, monitors were returned to the supplier for evaluation. During the evaluation, a damaged trace on one of the electrical boards was observed. Between 5/19 and 5/27, testing was conducted and initial root cause was thought to be understood. However, the proposed solution proved not to address the problem. Complaints continued to be made and on 6/9, Shyft determined the problem to be related to motor vehicles safety. During the week of 6/12, testing was conducted and a board within the vehicles failed from what appears to be related to a high electrical voltage spike. However, the failure mode of the monitor cutting out is not fully repeatable and the cause is still under evaluation.
