Defect
Storyteller Overland, LLC (Storyteller) is recalling certain 2023 Mode LT recreational vehicles. The exterior shore power inlet may have been improperly tightened.
Risk / consequence
An improperly tightened shore power inlet may overheat, increasing the risk of a fire.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the shore power inlets, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 19, 2025. Owners may contact Storyteller customer service at 1-888-999-7442.
Chronology of events
- Oct 4, 2024
On October 4, 2024, Storyteller’s Service Department received a report of a customer whose vehicle showed discoloration and heat-warping of the exterior shore power inlet.
- Oct 8, 2024
On October 8, 2024, the Storyteller Safety Committee met and opened an investigation.
- Apr 17, 2025
On April 17, 2025, the Storyteller Safety Committee initially determined that there was not enough evidence to conclude that a safety defect was present in commerce.
- Jun 23, 2025
On June 23, 2025, Storyteller’s Service Department received reports of two other customers whose shore power inlets showed discoloration and burn mark indicators, and Storyteller’s Safety Committee reopened the investigation.
