Defect

PACCAR Incorporated (PACCAR) is recalling certain 2024-2026 Kenworth T680, T880, and W990 trucks. The 15-inch digital display may fail to display warning lights or vehicle speed. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 101, "Controls and Displays" and 121, "Air Brake Systems."

Risk / consequence

An instrument panel display that does not show critical information, such as warning lights or vehicle speed, increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Dealers will update the vehicle display software, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed October 27, 2025. Owners may contact Kenworth's customer service at 1-425-828-5888. PACCAR's number for this recall is 25PACG.

    02-21-25: Engineering teams from Kenworth and display supplier Stoneridge travel to customer vehicle in Texas to inspect truck with digital display blue screen symptoms and record data.

  4. Mar 31, 2025

    03-31-25: Safety committee meeting held, informational. Instructed to continue collecting display behavior log data.

  5. Jul 30, 2025

    07-30-25: Safety committee meeting held. Determined that technical difference between Kenworth and Peterbilt display software support confining affected population to Kenworth only. The committee requested additional data regarding event occurrences in field.

  6. Aug 7, 2025

    08-07-25: Safety committee meeting held. All attendees but one concur in support of a non-compliance recall. Final member’s feedback pending input from technical expert.

  7. Aug 25, 2025

    08-25-25: Technical expert feedback obtained; final concurrence for non-compliance recall. As of 08-08-25, PACCAR received 173 warranty claims and 6 reports about 158 trucks in the field that may be related between September 2024 and April 2025. 0 reports of deaths or injuries have been received.
