Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2026 Seismic fifth wheel travel trailers. The certification label lists an incorrect Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR). As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."

Risk / consequence

The trailer may be accidentally overloaded after referencing the incorrect information, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Jayco will mail corrected labels, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed September 23, 2023. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco's number for this recall is 9901638.

Chronology of events

1. Aug 12, 2025

   On August 12, 2025, Jayco Inc. engineering emailed Jayco compliance that the Certification labels have the incorrect GAWR listed. The Labels show 8000 LBS. GAWR and need to show 7000 LBS. GAWR. Our internal investigation determined the scope of units affected by the engineering data entry printing error with the incorrect GAWR. All units were built with the correct 7000 LBS. axles.

2. Aug 18, 2025

   On August 18, 2025, the Warranty Incident Review Committee (WIRC) discussed the incident and determined it should be elevated to CPAC.

3. Aug 20, 2025

   On August 20, 2025, the Corrective and Preventive Action Committee (CPAC) met to discuss this incident and elevated it to the Safety Steering Committee.

4. Aug 28, 2025

   On August 28, 2025, the Safety Steering Committee voted in favor of proceeding with a noncompliance recall for failing to comply with requirement of 49 CFR Part 567 Certification 567.4. There are no warranty claims or complaints associated with this recall.
