Mack Trucks, Inc. (Mack) is recalling certain 2010-2016 Granite (GU) trucks. Vehicles remedied under Recall 15V804 (SC0398) may have had incorrect parts installed during subsequent repairs. The incorrect parts may cause a brake imbalance between the steer and drive axle brakes and the rear brakes to overheat.

Risk / consequence

Overheated brakes may cause a tire blowout or fire, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Dealers will inspect and replace the brake chambers as necessary, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed April 14, 2026. Owners may contact Mack's customer service at 1-800-866-1177. Mack's number for this recall is SC0491. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning December 22, 2025. Owners who received a remedy under Recall 15V804 (SC0398) must have the new remedy completed.

   November 5, 2025: Fleet inspection confirms multiple vehicles with incorrect parts installed during post- recall (SC0398) repairs.

3. Nov 6, 2025

   November 6, 2025: Safety Office notified about field findings and starts preliminary review.

4. Nov 20, 2025

   November 20, 2025: Safety Office opens a product safety related investigation.

5. Dec 2, 2025

   December 02, 2025 - Product Safety Evaluation Committee review, recommends escalation to Product Safety Committee.

6. Dec 9, 2025

   December 09, 2025 - Product Safety Committee determines that a safety defect exists and decides to initiate a recall. There have been no warranty claims, field reports, accidents or injuries with this issue.
