Alternator May Contact the Fuel Line

Defect

Coach and Equipment Mfg. Corp. (Coach and Equipment) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Phoenix transit buses equipped with a propane conversion kit with an aftermarket compressor. The alternator may contact and damage the fuel line.

Risk / consequence

A damaged fuel line may leak, increasing the risk of a fire.

Remedy

Dealers will inspect the alternator clearance and install additional brackets as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 8, 2026. Owners may contact Coach and Equipment customer service at 1-800-724-8464.

Chronology of events

1. Oct 15, 2025

   October 15, 2025 We noticed during an installation of a propane conversion kit with an aftermarket compressor that the front crossover fuel line could have a clearance issue once the OEM alternator was relocated.

2. Oct 17, 2025

   October 17, 2025 additional bracketry was developed to offer better clearance between the front crossover fuel line and the relocated alternator.

3. Oct 17, 2025

   October 17, 2025 the additional bracketry was incorporated into production and installed on previously built units that were on site or at the local dealer.

4. Oct 20, 2025

   October 20, 2025 a decision was made as a precautionary measure to initiate a recall for this issue. There have been no customer complaints concerning this issue.
