Defect

Evenflo Company, Inc. (Evenflo) is recalling certain Titan 65 child seats with model numbers CS200312198, CS200311198, 3712198, and 3711198. The child seats may have been manufactured without a tether strap.

Risk / consequence

A child seat with a missing tether strap may not adequately protect a child in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy

Evenflo will advise owners to inspect their child seat for a tether strap, and Evenflo will mail owners a tether strap with installation instructions, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 13, 2026. Owners may contact Evenflo customer service at 1-800-233-5921.

Chronology of events

  1. Oct 30, 2025

    On October 30, 2025, the Evenflo sales organization received two separate reports of missing tethers on Titan 65 units. One had a Date of Manufacture (DOM) of August 27, 2025. The other DOM is unknown.

  2. Nov 4, 2025

    November 4, 2025. An investigation into the matter was initiated.

    November 21, 2025. Evenflo sales received reports of four seats with missing tethers: DOMs

  4. Aug 4, 2025

    August 4, 2025 (2) and August 28, 2025 (2).

  5. Dec 9, 2025

    December 9, 2025. Evenflo sales received reports of two seats with missing tethers: DOM

    December 11, 2025. Additional safeguards were implemented on the manufacturing line to protect against release of units without tethers.

  10. Jan 8, 2025

    January 8, 2025. Evenflo inspected 4 seats returned after the reports above and concluded that the tether was not installed in production.

  11. Jan 13, 2025

    January 13, 2025. Evenflo management concluded that the population included seats with a defect (missing tether) and that appropriate action should be taken, but no final conclusion was reached regarding the relevant product population

  12. Jan 18, 2025

    January 18, 2025. Evenflo management determined the recall population, which is deliberately overinclusive to assure adequacy.
