Defect
Evenflo Company, Inc. (Evenflo) is recalling certain LiteMax Factory Select child seats with model number CS100111198. The weight and height limitations are stated incorrectly in the Spanish language manual. As such, these child seats fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 213, "Child Restraint Systems."
Risk / consequence
Incorrect information in the manual may result in an improperly restrained child, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.
Remedy
Evenflo will mail owners a corrected Spanish language manual, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 21, 2026. Owners may contact Evenflo customer service at 1-800-233-5921.
Chronology of events
- Jan 28, 2026
January 28, 2026 – Evenflo personnel became aware of an error in the weight specification on one page of the Spanish language manual shipped with the seats in the recall population.
- Jan 30, 2026
January 30, 2026 – An investigation was initiated into the source and implications of the error.
- Feb 9, 2026
February 9, 2026 (week of) – Testing was performed to assess the compliance status of the subject child seats, based on the weight limitations as reflected in the identified error.
- Feb 19, 2026
February 19, 2026 – Evenflo management determined, based on testing results, that the error in the Spanish language version of the manual constitutes a noncompliance and that the noncompliance is not inconsequential to safety.
