Defect

Rivian Automotive, LLC (Rivian) is recalling certain 2022-2025 R1S and R1T vehicles that previously had service performed. The toe link may have been reassembled incorrectly during service procedures performed before March 10, 2025.

Risk / consequence

The toe link joint may separate, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Rivian will replace the rear toe link bolts, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 17, 2026. Owners may contact Rivian customer service at 1-888-748-4261. Rivian's number for this recall is FSAM-1794. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning February 24, 2026.

Chronology of events

  1. March 2025

    In March 2025, Rivian concluded an investigation to root cause a very small number of reported toe link joint failures and to revise its service procedures/training accordingly. Since revision of the service procedures, no repair related toe link failures have been reported to Rivian.

  2. Dec 15, 2025

    On December 15, 2025, NHTSA notified Rivian of two recent customer complaints reporting toe link failures associated with repairs which occurred before March 10, 2025.

  3. Dec 26, 2025

    On December 26, 2025, Rivian decided to conduct a voluntary safety recall of all potentially affected vehicles with subject repairs before March 10, 2025. As of the date of this filing, Rivian is aware of only one single vehicle crash with alleged minor injuries related to this issue.
