Chronology of events

  1. December 2025

December 2025, OEV undertook a comprehensive review of the training seat and its compliance with any applicable FMVSS requirements. The review included an assessment of whether or not the training seat qualified as a Designated Seating Position under 49 C.F.R. § 571.3, whether the specialized orientation of the training seat qualified it as a side-facing seat, and an assessment of whether the training seat met associated performance requirements. This assessment occurred through early March 2026, and on March 6, 2026, OEV concluded that the training seat did not meet FMVSS requirements for Designated Seating Positions under FMVSS 207 and 210. OEV is not aware of any deaths or injuries potentially related to this issue.
