Defect

International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2023-2027 IC Bus CESB and 2025-2027 IC Bus EVSB school buses. The body panel joint may have been attached without sufficient epoxy coverage. As such these vehicle fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 221, "School Bus Body Joint Strength."

Risk / consequence

The body panels may separate during a crash, reducing structural integrity and increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy

Dealers will inspect and repair the interior vertical joint as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 4, 2026. Owners may contact International's customer service at 1-800-448-7825. International's number for this recall is 26504. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning May 11, 2026.

Chronology of events

1. Dec 14, 2025

   12/14/2025: International receives three additional reports of units missing epoxy from a dealer and initiates an investigation.

2. Dec 17, 2025

   12/17/2025: International completes warranty analysis and finds no claims related to lack of epoxy on joints or joint strength.
