ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL

Defect

Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling certain 2025-2026 VNL (4) vehicles. The instrument panel may fail while driving. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "Controls and Displays."

Risk / consequence

An instrument panel display that fails to show critical safety information, such as the speedometer or warning lights, increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Dealers will replace the instrument panel clusters, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 8, 2026. Owners may contact Volvo Trucks' customer service at 800-528-6586. Volvo Trucks' number for this recall is RVXX2603. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning April 1, 2026.

  4. Feb 27, 2026

    February 27, 2026: Instrument cluster supplier identifies the issue as being related to a soldering process error occurring during component assembly. Supplier notes that Volvo Truck North America began receiving defective parts in November 2024.

  5. Mar 9, 2026

    March 9, 2026: Product Safety Evaluation Committee reviews investigation information and recommends escalation to the Product Safety Committee.

  6. Mar 18, 2026

    March 18, 2026: Product Safety Committee determines that a product non-compliance exists and decides to initiate a recall.
