Defect
Blue Bird Bus Company (Blue Bird) is recalling certain 2026-2027 All American school buses. The retention nuts between the wiper blades and the mounting arms may have been improperly tightened.
Risk / consequence
Loose fasteners may cause the windshield wipers to become inoperative, reducing visibility and increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and tighten the fasteners as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 11. 2026. Owners may contact Blue Bird customer service at 1-478-822-2242.
Chronology of events
- January 2026
• January 2026: Blue Bird had a meeting with Transport Canada to understand windshield wiper issues they found during an inspection. Blue Bird started its internal investigation to evaluate if the issue was related to a supplier quality spill or an internal assembly process.
- March 2026
• March 2026: Blue Bird informed Transport Canada that the issue was assembly process related and was identifying the impacted population.
- April 2026
• April 2026: Blue Bird submitted a defect report.
