Park Outside: Generator May Turn On Without Operator Action

Winnebago Industries, Inc. (Winnebago) is recalling certain 2022-2027 Ekko motorhomes. The touchscreen display may register unintended or phantom inputs and turn on the generator without the operator's knowledge.

Risk / consequence

People in an enclosed space, such as a garage, with a running generator may be at an increased risk of injury or death from carbon monoxide poisoning.

Remedy

Owners are advised to park outside until the repair has been performed. Winnebago will release an over-the-air (OTA) software update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 11, 2026. Owners may contact Winnebago customer service at 1-641-585-6939 or 1-800-537-1885. Winnebago's number for this recall is 205.

1. Dec 4, 2025

   December 4, 2025: Precision Circuits (Supplier) first got involved in investigation.

2. Jan 20, 2026

   January 20, 2026: Brand Action Committee identified the issue and initiated data gathering.

3. Mar 5, 2026

   March 5, 2026: Brand Action Committee reviewed findings and determined additional information was needed to decide if the concern was safety related.

4. Apr 9, 2026

   April 9, 2026: Brand Action Committee escalated to Product Safety Committee review.

5. Apr 15, 2026

   April 15, 2026: Product Safety Committee determined there was a defect related to Safety, initiating Safety Recall #205. Winnebago is aware of 9 claims related to this matter. We are not aware of any deaths, injuries or claims of property damage.
