Shyft Group (Shyft) is recalling certain 2022 Utilimaster Aeromaster vehicles. The Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) listed on the certification label may be incorrect. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."
Risk / consequence
Referencing the incorrect GVWR may lead to unintentionally overloading the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Shyft will install new labels, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 7, 2026. Owners may contact Shyft customer service at 1-800-237-7806. Shyft's number for this recall is 26-03.
Chronology of events
- Apr 10, 2026
On April 10, 2026, Product Safety and Compliance was made aware of a customer complaint involving the incorrect Gross Vehicle Weight Rating on a vehicle returned to one of our plants for service. A review of production records during the time frame was conducted to determine the potential scope of the problem. The affected population of vehicles was identified and on April 17, 2026, we determined a non-compliance could exist in those vehicles.
