Defect
Shyft Group (Shyft) is recalling certain 2025 Utilimaster Velocity vehicles. The incorrect vehicle load value may be listed on the vehicle cargo carrying capacity label.
Risk / consequence
Incorrect weight information may lead to unintentionally overloading the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Utilimaster will provide new labels, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 18, 2026. Owners may contact Shyft customer service at 1-800-237-7806. Shyft's number for this recall is 26-04.
Chronology of events
- Feb 11, 2026
On February 11, 2026 Shyft, through its Utilimaster brand, was made aware the values on an optional cargo carrying capacity labels had a value that was higher than what the vehicle was capable of carrying. On February 18, 2026, new labels with the corrected values were received and containment actions were implemented on February 20, 2026. On April 28, 2026, Shyft determined the higher value on the labels presented a risk to motor vehicle safety.
